On the Aesthetic Personality Difference between Local Literature School and Potato School

乡土文学派是中国现代文学史上第一个有影响的小说流派；山药蛋派是当代文学史上第一个有影响的小说流派。前者表现了农民的悲剧生活；后者表现了农民的喜剧生活。一个较多讽刺；一个较多幽默。其基调一个是忧愁，一个是欢乐；前者空灵有余而厚实不足，后者过于滞重而有失活泼。

Local literature school is an impressive noval school i n modern Chinese literature history; potato school is the first impressive noval school in the present literature history. The former displays the tragic life o f the peasants, while the latter displays the comic life of the peasants; one ha s more satirical flavour, the other has more humorous flavour. With regard to th e keynote, one is depressed, the other is enjous; the former has more artistry t han enough but insufficient goodmanner, the latter is over sluggish and less liv ely.
