Reform or Revolution: A Difficult Choice to Make in the Social Change at the End of Qing Dynasty

清末中国社会面临革命与改良的艰难抉择。就革命而言，存在着必要性与可能性的矛盾。然而改良之路也缺乏成功的必要条件，但在实践已初步证明改良之路行不通的背景下，民主革命无疑就更具有说服力和吸引力。中国人民只能在民主革命的实践中继续探索救国之路。

The Chinese society in the last years of Qing Dynasty was confronted with the difficult choice of revolution or reform. There was the contradiction between necessity and possibility for revolution while the compulsory conditions for successful reform were lacking. Practice, however, proved reform impracticable, and the democratic revolution became undoubtedly more feasible and attractive. Only in the democratic revolution could the Chinese people continue their exploration on the road to national salvation.
