编辑活动的三种境界

Three Ideal States of Edition

作为较高水平的编辑,必须具备三种境界:慧眼识珠,要能从大量的来稿中,发现最有价值的稿件,发现稿件中的闪光点,而不会轻易放过,将之埋没;点铁成金,要能挖掘出稿件深处的内涵,挖掘出稿件的社会价值,尤其对于重大新闻线索,新闻事件要能发现其中的价值;锦上添花,对于已经很不错的稿件,如何让它更上一层楼,更臻完善,也是衡量编辑活动优劣的重要尺度。而要想达到这三种境界,必须加强学习,提高修养,提高综合素质。

An excellent editor must achieve three ideal states. The first state is to have exceptional insight, that is an editor should be good at finding outstanding contributions among average. The second state is to turn a crude essay into a literary gem, that is, an editor should be able to dig up the connotation and social value of contribution. The third state is to add flowers to the brocade, that is, to make a good contribution more perfect, which is also an important ruler to evaluate an editor's work. While to achieve these three ideal states, an editor must study hard to improve cultivation and comprehensive competence.
