Notes on word translation of The History of the Ming Dynasty

《汉语大词典》是我国目前收词最多的一部大型词典 ,它代表了我国目前辞书编纂的最高水平 ,但由于我国文献典籍数量众多 ,再加上近年来又有出土文献“重见天日” ,编纂辞书时搜集资料不全 ,可能会漏收一部分已经存在的词语 ;或者引用晚于该词实际产生时代的书证来证明该词的某一义项的存在 ,因而出现书证过晚的问题 ;或者产生误解词语意思的问题 ,等等。有关辞书 ,尤其是《汉语大词典》存在的这些问题已经被多次提及 ,为《汉语大词典》进一步完善积累了丰富的资料 ,这篇文章也为《汉语大词典》

Han Yu Da Ci Dian (a comprehensive Chinese dictionary) is a large-scale dictionary and boasts of the largest number of entries of its kind in China, presenting the highest lexicological achievement of the Chinese language. As its updatedness of entries and accuracy of definitions are being undermined by documented evidences of more and more newly-found ancient documents, another edition of this dictionary is necessary. Translations of some of the words in this paper can be used as materials for the next compilation of the above mentioned dictionary.
