This paper deals with the main achievements of the ancient female doctors in China and presents four reasons for the scarcity of female doctors under the feudal system of the ancient times. The four reasons include ① female's lack of opportunity to receive education, ② the custom of 'looking up to men and down on women' in the feudal system leading to the fact that only men could learn medicine from their parents, ③ the professional feature of the doctor's profession, and ④ occasionality in females becoming doctors.
