“见异”——《文心雕龙》批评方法之二

TO FIND OUT THE DISTINCTION——Liu Xie's Second Critical Method in His Book Carving a Dragon at the Core of Literature

“见异”,即显示作家或作品的特别之处,刘勰以此为批评方法来实施其批评标准。之所以如此,一来刘勰认为作家之“异”在于其“偏美”、“各其善”,二来刘勰认为作品之“异”在于“变文之数无方”。

By ' distinction-finding' we mean to find out or display what is specially different in an author or a work from the others. Liu Xie's application of his critical criteria was practised mainly by means of this critical approach. His reasons are as follows:firstly, Liu Xie argues that an author's 'distinction' lies in his 'preference'and his 'naming of what is good'; secondly, Liu Xie believes that a work's 'distinction' lies in the fact that 'the changes of its diction and suntax are not confined'.
