近20年来,史学界对中国近代的文化转型、改造国民性、知识分子、书院和学堂、上层文化和下层文化等进行了深入研究,并取得了许多重要成果。1979年以来的文化史研究在新研究范式的尝试上获得了许多宝贵的经验。但是,也有部分学者没有处理好理论与史料的关系。
