This paper introduces the characteristics and application of on-line instrumentation in wastewater treatment plants (WTTPs).The results of a wastewater characterization study on a wastewater treatment plant show that the use of on-line instrumentation contributes to optimizing design, saving investments and operational costs significantly, and reducing the risk of operation failure.
