Development Trends of Next Generation Networks

业界对下一代网络(NGN)的概念持有不同的观点。根据国际上有关NGN的研究与行动,NGN包含以智能光网为核心的下一代光网络,以MPLS和IPv6为重点的下一代IP网络以及采用3G,4G的下一代无线通信网络等。在众多的NGN计划中,欧盟的NGN行动计划较为突出。首先对其使命、研究内容等进行了整体的介绍。在介绍了中国有关NGN的研究后,就NGN的网络功能结构如何设定以及美国有关建设下一代电话网的举措进行了阐述。最后对中国NGN的发展提出殷切希望。

There are different views about Next Generation Network(NGN)in the telecom industry.Ac -cording to the research and activities re-lated to NGN in the world,NGN in-cludes the intelligent optical network-based next generation optical networks,MPLS,IPv6-based next generation IP networks and next generation wireless communications networks which adopt 3G,4G technologies.EU's NGN pro-gram is well-known in the industry.Its objectives and research content are in-troduced in this paper.After the intro-duction of related research on NGN in China,the theories for setting up func-tional structure of NGN networks and relative measures taken in USA to es-tablish next generation telephone net-works are described.Finally,expecta-tion is put forward towards the devel-opment of NGN in China.
