From the deformation status of surrounding rock during the tunnel construction in 'the Yellow River Diversion Project', the layout principle of observation sections, the observation method of convergence, and the modified formula of the measured data were discussed. The regularity of change in convergence of surrounding rock with time was obtained based on the analysis of the measured data during the construction.
