The famous book 《Inward Bound》written by Abraham Pais is a masterpiece in physical history. The 'Quantum mechanics,an essay' of this work had approved wide-rangingly by physical circles. This article introduces and discusses it. In the times so called golden years of physics, Heisenberg, Jordan, Pauli, Dirac, and schroedinger played outstanding parts, but Born, Bohr, and Sommerfeld, men of riper age, made major contributions to quantum mechanics, yet they must be regarded as the foremost teachers of that period.
