In this paper,the in service monitoring of error performance for SDH is introduced.The error performance events and parameters,the princple and methods of BIP,and the problems remained in ITU T recommendation G.826,G.828 and G.829 are described also.We believe that SDH and its in service monitoring will still have a great vitality.
