The Culture of Numerals in China

汉字的数字有大小写两种。古时不少读书人以数字并称 ,图书也常以数字命名。数字并称、数字书名 ,构成之巧妙 ,生动地体现了汉语语言文字的优美、准确、简练和涵盖力 ,折射出中国数字的文化精神。考释此类数字的含义 ,不仅能引发当代读者对古代读者的兴趣 。

Chinese numerals can be divided into two kinds:capital and small.In ancient time,many intellectuals named themselves together with numbers.Books were often nominated with numbers.Naming together with numbers and book names with numbers were constructed so delicately as to represent the excellence,precision,terse and the richness of connotation of Chinese language and to reflect the cultural spirits of Chinese numbers.The study and explanation of such numbers can not only initiate the interest of modern readers in ancient readers,but also help to sort out the ancient books.
