Utilizing the methods of recurrence and time sequence analysis, this article analyzes the trends and cycles as indicated by the entrance test scores of enrolled students over the past ten years. Its evaluation of the quality of the incoming students at USTC provides a basis for decision making regarding admission criteria and teaching reform.
