Verification of the Date of Tianjing Incident

18 5 6年 9月太平天国领导集团发生内讧 ,东王杨秀清被杀 ,受牵连被杀达二万余人 ,史称“天京事变”。文章通过对清方资料、清人笔记、诸王自述、外国人报道研究分析 ,相互引证 ,提出了“天京事变”不发生在 9月 2日凌晨 ,而是在 9月 4日或 9月 5日 ,这对正确评价洪秀全。

Internal strife took place in September 1865 among the Taiping leadership group. This is known in history as the Tianjing Incident, in which the Estern King Yang Xin qing and as many as 20,000 people involved were killed. After an analysis and cross reference of the records by the Qing government, notes by the Qing people, accounts by the Taiping leaders and reports by foreign observers, this paper reaches the conclusion that the Tianjing Incident took place on September 4 th or 5 th rather than in the small hours of September 2nd. This conclusion is of great importance in the correct evaluation of Hong Xiu qing.
