Antony and Cleopatra is masterpiece of tragedy by Shakespeare in his later years,quite distinct from Romeo and Juliet-another tragedy created during his early years-no matter whether in the deep understanding or in the vivid depiction of love psychology in the middle-aged persons.The inner world of Antony manifested as a constant conflict between ego(as one of Roman commanders)and id(as a lover)till his death,whereas Cleo-patra,Queen of Egypt,was a love perfectionist and had a burning desire for sole ownership of Antony,and all this led to the tragedy of the two.
