语言学习和语言交际不仅涉及语言系统 ,而且涉及到与语言系统密切相关的文化系统。研究表明 ,语言内部诸要素中受文化影响最大的就是词语。词语的文化负荷深深地打上了民族的烙印 ,表现出地域的特征。作者从以下几方面对其进行了探讨 :1)价值观导致的词语内涵差异 ;2 )词汇意义相同或相近而表述上存在的差异 ;3)不同文化的特有词语 ;4 )

Language study and language communication involve not only language system, but also cultural system which is closely related to language system. Studies show that among all the components of a language, words are usually the first to be influenced by culture. Actually almost all words bear marked national and regional brands. This paper studies cultural connotations of English and Chinese words from the following aspects: differences derived from different cultural values; differences derived from words same or similar in meaning but different in use; special vocabulary in English and Chinese cultures; enlightenment for translation gained from this study.
