This article deals with the mechanical graphs and acting mechanism of the plug rag and placed rockfill in the block of protection of the mound breakwater affected by waves. It lays stress on the calculating formulas of the stable thickness of stone laid blocks being acted on by friction. The correctness of the fomulas is also tested by using practical engineering examples.
