Square design in the course of urban development

广场起源于古希腊 ,在当时 ,广场只是简单意义上的举行庆典、祭祀的场所。到了文艺复兴时期 ,广场空间设计的规范才初步形成。而今 ,随着城市化的发展 ,广场已成为城市空间的有机组成部分 ,并越来越多地呈现出综合性功能。广场设计应符合现代城市的需求 ,突出人文特征 ,加强整体规划。

Squares originated in ancient Greece.At that time,squares were simply the public places for holding celebrations and sacrificial ceremonies.It was not until the Renaissance that space design of squares begen to be preliminarily standardized.But now squares have become the essential part of city space and begun to function synthetically.Squares should be designed to meet the needs of cities,to highlight the humanistic features of squares and to emphesize the integrity of city planning.
