Between Poets and Readers--On the Originating of Shi Shi and Shi Sheng

杜甫是中国诗史上最伟大的诗人,对他的认识是一个带有鲜明主观性的历史接受过程。需要进一步讨论的是杜甫的两项影响深远的誉称即“诗圣”、“诗史”说具体的来源、内涵的历时性演变以及彼此的关联。这两项誉称的含义是不断变化的,唐宋时期,“诗圣”称颂的是杜甫的诗歌艺术,“诗史”肯定的是他的人格情操,而明清时期以及现代之理解恰恰与此相反。

DU Fu was one of the most great poes in Chinese ancient literary history.To know him and his poem is a historical reception procedure.This article is talking about the originating of DU Fus two reputes which were'shi sheng'(the saint in poetic world)and'shi shi'(the history written in poem),their meaningss changing and the historical relation between the two reputes.The article thinks that the meanings of the reputes were changeable:what'Shi Sheng'praised was DU Fus poetic technique and what'Shi Shi'praised was DU Fus character in Tang and Song Dynasties,but their meanings changed to the contrary in Ming and Qing Dynasties and modern times.
