Objective To investigate the effects of the modified stroking on newborns’ health. Methods Two hundred newborns were randomly divided into two groups equally: observation group and control group. In the control group, the newborns only received the traditional massage on the whole body. In the observation group, rotating, pushing and grasping the back, kneading and shaking the extremities and holding twisting small joints of fingers and toes, and finger tips were performed for the 100 newborns who were at first in prone position and then in supine position on the basis of traditional massage.
