The Role of the Chinese Genealogy Played in the Studies of Cultural History

论述了中国家谱作为一种史料对文化史研究的作用 ,概括为 15个方面 ,着重分析了其中 6个方面 :家谱中的姓氏渊源传说资料、家谱中的宗族先祖传说资料、家谱中的本地开基祖及世系资料、家谱中的村落组织资料、家谱中的宗族组织资料、家谱中的族规家法资料。

In this paper, the role that the Chinese genealogy plays in the studies of cultural history is discussed in 15 aspects of which 6 are analyzed in detail: the legendary information about the source of surnames, the legendary information about clan ancestors, the information about the founder of a clan , the organization of the village community, clan rules and domestic disciplines. The author holds that all the information should be critically inherited and used in academic studies.
