To investigate the neuroprotective efficacy of sodium ferulate (SF), and the effects of SF on expression of postsynaptic density 95 (PSD 95) in rat brain following transient focal cerebral ischemic injury using neurobehavioral evaluation, infarct volume assessment and Western blot analysis. It was confirmed that SF could significantly improve neurologic function deficit, reduce cerebral infarct volume at 24 h after reperfusion, and markedly potentiate expression of PSD 95 after reperfusion, which implies SF can alleviate cerebral ischemic damages probably via enhancing activation of PSD 95.
