The methods of protection of IGBT and the basic requirements for driving circuit are described. A new circuit of IGBT driving and short-circuit protection with perfect performance is developed. It base on the principle of collector-emitter voltage desaturation. Analysis and experiment results show that the new circuit is simple, reli-able, and of great application value.
