Pierre Bourdieu is a French sociologist who enjoys high prestige in the world. Field Theory is a very important section in his thought system. The notion of field and analytical unit come from his anthropological researches in his early years. Field abounds with power and competition. Individuals may choose different competitive strategies. Capital is both competitive aim and competitive method. Field has an autonomizatoin tendency, which is restricted by social factors. Habitus is another fundamental notion corresponding to field . The two notions are closely related to each other. Using his field theory,Bourdieu attempts to dilute the binary opposition between object and subject.
