From Nanao Island in Guangdong to the Paxi Dai People in Yunnan: Two Cases of the Interpretations of Historical Texts

历史文本在很大程度上可以看作是一个产生的过程。在文本所产生的社会历史脉络中 ,如果研究者能够尽量在了解社会生活的同时分析地方文献 ,能够对历史文献产生的社会意义给予更多的关注 ,就可以看到文献表面上所不能了解的问题。因此 ,对历史文献的利用与人类学田野工作的结合 ,也是理解地方社会文化的一种有效方式。

Historical text could be seen a process of creating. If researchers try to understand the social meaning of these texts in the social context which these texts be created, and try to make an analysis of historical documents in their local social meanings, researchers could find more questions from the different aspects of these documents. Sometimes, these questions could not be found form these documents directly. In this case, the combined way of the analysis of historical documents with the technique of participate observation can also help us to understand local society in an new way and there are two cases to talk about this way in this article.
