论译文的回译性

On Back Translatability of Target Language

到目前为止 ,译论界对语际翻译 ,尤其是英汉翻译进行了大量的研究 ,并已归纳出不少翻译原则。这里从多语转换现象出发 ,提出了“译文回译性”这个新概念 ,并对其分类进行了讨论。在从原文到译文的翻译过程中考虑译文的回译性有利于促使译文“忠实”原文 ,并在此基础上进行合理的“神似”、“化境” ,也有利于多语转换和文化交流。据此认为 ,“译文回译性”应成为译文质量的评判标准之一 。

So far a great deal of research has been done into interlingual translation, especially between Chinese and English, and many principles of translation have been claimed. In this article, after a brief introduction of the phenomena of multilingual transference the author proposes a new concept-'back translatability' of target language and discusses its classification, and thinks that it helps make the target language attain 'faithfulness'? 'resemblance in spirit' and 'transformation of souls' to the source language, and also helps achieve cultural interaction as well as multilingual transference. As such, the writer suggests that 'back translatability' be one of the judgment criteria for the quality of the target language translation, and studies of 'back translatability' be an integral component of translation studies.
