On Literary Theories and their Future

任何理论都是实践经验的升华,又是实践的先导和指南。在文学艺术的未来发展中,特别是我国建设有中国特色社会主义文艺的实践中,人们不断有新的探索、新的创造、新的突破,因而理论必须紧密联系实际,不断从中总结经验和教训,并把它升华为新的理论。

All theories are sublimations of practical experience as well as fore runners and guides to practice. In future development of literature and art, especially in the practice of building the socialist literature and art with Chinese characteristics, new explorations, new creations and new breakthrough are being made incessantly. In so doing, theory must be closely combined with practice and enriched with experience and lessons drawn from practice and sublimated into new theory.
