论“象思维”的机理

On The Mechanism of "Image Thinking

有关“象”与“象思维”的研究,是中国传统思维方式研究中的一项重要突破。然而,“象思维”的界说目前还不够完善。应该指出,“象思维”的思维器官即中国传统文化中所谓的“心”。“心” 通过直观体验将“象”分为不同层次结构,通过取象比类揭示“象”与“象的关系,从而使“象思维”成为对“象”的关系网络的整体把握。这样才能同概念思维作更深入的比较,充分发挥它在现实生活中的应有作用。

Researches of 'image' and 'image thinking' are an important breakthrought in the studies of Chinese tradi tional way of thinking. However, the definition of 'image thinking' is yet to perfected and knowledge about it is yet to be deepened. It is important to point out that the thinking organ of 'image thinking' is the 'heart' as held by Chinese traditional culture. The heart , throught directly perceived experience, divides 'image into struc tures of different positions and by analogizing images under consideration, discloses the relation between 'images' so as to make 'image thinking' a grasp of the whole network of relationships of 'images'. To understand 'image thinking' requires not only thorough comprehension but understanding of its general mechanism as well. Only thus, can it be further compared with concept thinking and be enabled to function fully in real life.
