中古佛经借词略说

A Brief Survey of Loan Words from Mid-Ancient Buddhist Sutras

佛教词汇输入中国 ,是历史上的一件大事。中古佛经引进了大量的外语词 ,引进语词的词类 (包括内部小类 )有了明显的扩展 ,接受外语词的体式已基本确立 ,但存在着不规范的现象。中古佛经已开始对梵语借词运用缩略。

The introduction of Buddhist vocabulary into China is an important event in history. The translated mid-ancient Buddhist sutras contain large quantities of foreign words and the parts of speech (including subdivisions) of the loan words have been remarkably expanded. The forms of absorbing foreign words have basically been established but non-standard forms still exist. An initial way has been employed to standardize the loan words from Sanskrit by means of assimilation like abbreviation and orthography.
