The 'Zuo Zhuan' is a historical and also a literary work, so it has a dual character and function. Based on a brief analysis of the partially overlapping relationship between historical literature and narrative literature and in terms of writing materials, processing way of materials, artistic achievement and social function, this paper expounds the narrative characteristics and literary achievement of the work and then affirms its position and value in the history of narrative literaturre.
