This paper summarizes the branch-off-based distribution network power flow calculation methods developed in the recent years, gives a detailed description of the basic principles of various calculation methods and their calculation procedures, and makes thorough research on capability of tapping bench-off and loop network as well as on the algorithm convergence characteristics using different calculation methods. The paper also advances a method of modifying PV nodes to improve calculation accuracy.
