Theory on Intellect and the Artistic Turn of Modern Chinese Poetry

摘要 知性是现代诗在苦闷了若干时期以后始能在表现方法上找到的一条出路。诗歌从传统的单纯抒情转向现代的知性 ,一群诗人由此开始以感情追求思想 ,追求诗中感情的明晰和智慧之美 ,把机智、讽刺感、悖论和辩证性放到诗创作的重要位置 ,这是抒情艺术的一大转折。中国新诗在 2 0世纪 30年代实现了知性的转变 ,主要体现在以卞之琳为代表的“知性诗群”。然而 ,对于知性这个理论的理解至今仍有误区。许多人还认为抒情是诗的本质 ,把知性等同于理性、哲理、逻辑、知识。有鉴于此 ,文章系统地清理了知性理论的渊源和传播脉络 ,澄清了知性的涵义和特点 ,并结合创作实际 ,阐明了知性对于诗歌发展的重要性 ,它的深远影响 ,以及它可能的偏颇。 Intellect is a way out of expression, after modern poetry being depressed in searching for a certain time. From traditional lyricism to the modernist intellect, some vanguards have begun to pursue sensuous apprehension of thought, to seek clarity of emotion and beauty of intelligence. Wit, sense of irony, paradox and dialectic become essential in the composition of poems. This indicates a great transformation in the lyrical art. The artistic turn of modern Chinese poetry was carried out in the 1930s by “the group of intellectual poets” represented by Bian Zhilin. However, the idea of intellect hasn't been well understood. Some people still hold to the traditional idea that the essence of poetry is to express emotion. Others see intellect the same as rationality, philosophy, logic or knowledge. In view of that, this paper explores the origin and venation of the idea of intellect, clarifies its meaning and characteristics, and expounds with textual analyses its importance and profound influence to the development of modern Chinese poetry.
