Intelligent Transportation System(ITS) is the developmental direction for transportation realm in the 21st century.As the visual product of transportative information,electronic maps play an important part in ITS.This paper puts forward some views on the role,characteristics,methods of getting information in ITS.The paper also points out some techniques and some issues worthy of attention in the process of collecting information and making maps.
