二里头遗址是中、晚夏城 ,晚夏后期都。桀有二都 :一是早夏故都斟寻阝 ,在今河南孟州 ;二是河南邑 ,在今河南偃师二里头。今河南巩义西南斟寻阝故城非夏都。河南二里头文化不是夏文化的全部 ;也不是后羿代夏后的夏文化。二里头考古文化是中、晚夏文化或是晚夏后期主体文化。明辑本《竹书纪年》

Erliton site was the mid and late Xia City and the late Xia Capital.During the Jie Period of the Xia Dynasty,there were two capitals.One was Zhengxun,an old capital in the early Xia Dynasty,which now lies in Mengzhou Henan.The other was the county in Henan,which is now situated in Erliton,Yanshi,Henan.The present Zhengxun,which was an old city,and lies in the south-west of Gongyi,Henan today,was not the Xia capital.Erliton culture was not the whole Xia culture,nor was it the Xia culture when Houyi replaced the Xia.The book Annals on Bamboos slips,which was compiled during the Ming Dynasty,was not a false one.
