In this paper ,the author described the characters of ADO(Active Data Object) technology with comparison to some other database access technology DAO(Data Access Object) and ODBC(Open Database Connectivity). By demonstrating a simple example of how to use ADO in the development of modern dam safety monitoring system, the author illustrates the necessity and importance of application of ADO technology in modern dam safety monitoring.
