The emperors of Southern Dynasties,who were very fond of literature,acted as leaders of many literary groups which consisted of many rising literati of humble origin.They not only wrote a lot of good poems,short stories and rhythmical prose,but also made a great contribution to literary criticism.They promoted the rapid development of Southern Dynasties literature.What they have achieved constitutes an important part of Chinese ancient literature.
