Data Distribution Based on IP Multicast in LANs

通过网络分发大量数据是常见的应用,利用IP组播技术在局域网内实现数据分发是一种快速有效的方式。文章介绍了IP组播的基本工作原理,分析讨论了局域网中数据分发的特点,并给出了一个利用组播将磁盘映像文件同时分发到多台主机的应用实例。

Distributing quantity of data over networks would be a normal task. IP multicast provides superior speeds and an efficient way of distributing data to multiple machines in LANs. This paper is intended to discuss the way how IP multicasting works and to analyze the characteristics of data distribution in LANs. In addition ,an example that Multicast Server distributes the disk image file to the connected multiple machines simultaneously through one transmission using IP multicast is given.
