The stories of merchants in two collections of stories by Ling chu give expression to the impact of rudiments of capitalism on people' s life and thought, to unconventional concepts, to the changes in social life caused by the prosperity of commodity exchange, and to the evil in human nature and the negative social effect caused by commodity exchange . Besides, They sum up and depict the art of business accumulated by the merchants in their practice.
