Explaining the definition of the nonprofit research organization in U. S. A. and expounding its important position in the scientific research system of the United States. Some nonprofit management problems are discussed which were seldom studied in China. The experience of nonprofit institute management may help us to understand the special rules in the development of scientific research and give us some useful lessons in the research system reformation in China.
