Relevance Theory and Cross-Cultural Translation

翻译中的文化蕴涵的处理往往是一个比较棘手的问题。关联理论给了我们很大的启迪。事实上 ,交际过程的双方都是基于关联这样一个原则基础上的。作为交际活动的一种形式的翻译也不外乎此。文章试图从其指导价值和能够作为评估标准两个方面来说明关联理论对跨文化翻译的重要意义。

This is a study of the treatments of the cultural differences in Chinese English translation within relevance theory.It studies communication from the psychological point of view.According to Sperber and Wilson(1986a),it is relevance that enables human beings to communicate with one another.Translation is a kind of communication.Relevance theory can help distinguish the different aspects of meaning,offer different methods and techniques in translating the cultural differences.It can also be used as a means of evaluating the translation of cultural differences,which further proves that relevance theory does work well in translating these culturally loaded expressions.
