The application of astatic lead in the surveying of geotechnical investigation for Yellow River abutment is introduced. The topographic coordination data have been surveyed with the instrument of Total Stations .Correction and accuracy analysis have been done for orientation angle and coordinates for topographic point. The satisfactory result shows that the problems such as lack of controling point and invisible controling point have been solved.
