自治和学术自由一直是大学崇高的精神追求。2 0世纪初 ,大学精神在中国的高校中创造了前所未有的辉煌。建国以后 ,大学先是成为意识形态的工具 ,后又成为推动经济发展的重要手段 ,大学精神的丧失无疑是 5 0年高教发展的最大失误 ,重建大学精神是中国高校面临的共同课题。新的时代又赋予大学精神以新的内容 ,新世纪的大学精神应包括学术自由、理性精神、人文精神与创新意识等四个方面的内涵。

Autonomy and freedom of academy are always the lofty purpuit in the unwersity.In the 20th century,the university in China witnessed heritage and elevation of university spirits and achieved the splendour which was something essential in the history of Chinas education.With the foundation of Peoples Republic of China,the university become the means of struggle in ideology and then was served as main impuls in accelerating the development of economy.Since the born of new China,the higher education largest drawback was vanishment of university spirit.No doubt the shared topic which confronts the university in China is the recreation of the university spirits.Now we are in the dawn of new century,the new epoch demands the university spirits new meaning which contains freedom of academy,spirits of rational and humanities and conciousness of creation.
