Xian-gai A, a wild abortion type male sterile line in rice, delayed flowering and closed glumes difficultly. It is because the vascular bundles in its rachilla and lodicules were undeveloped, the transport system was abnormal. and the lodicules absorbed and lost water difficultly. The grains did not' develop well. because the flowers could not close in time. the humidity in them was lower. the water content of the seeds was less and coats were ageing by light.
