The Behavior Economics Explanation and Its Economic Implication of Patriotism ——Case Study of Minsheng Corporation

通过近代民生公司发展过程的案例 ,我们发现由爱国主义导致的各行为主体 (厂商、雇员、消费者 )的非理性行为极大地促进了中国近代民族资本的发展。虽然这方面的事实经济史文献有过记载 ,但是从行为经济学角度来对其进行分析还是首次。分析结果告诉我们个体的非理性行为从整体上看也许是理性的 ,特别是当一个民族面对外来竞争的时候 。

by case study of Minsheng Corporation in the recent modern history, we discovered that the irrational behavior due to patriotism greatly promoted the China's capitalism. Although there are some facts found in the economic history literatures, the paper makes the first attempt in explaining it with the behavior science. The results of the analysis show that the irrational individual behavior may be rational in total, especially when a nation is facing with the foreign competition, just as today's China facing with the impact of WTO entry.
