China needs a robust exhibition industry

时下,最热门的话题可能就是会展经济了。所谓会展经济,就是指举办各种会议、展览会获得直接或间接的经济效益和社会效益的经济活动。1996年在德国汉诺威举办的世界博览会,创造了10万个就业机会,获得145亿马克的利润及45亿马克的税收;有“国际会议之都”美誉的巴黎,每年都要承办300多个大型国际会议,有7亿美元的收入;在我国香港,1年的会展收入达74亿港元,提供9,000多个就业机会。据“国际大会和会议协会”

A robust and well organized exhibition industry can help to stimulate the economy. For this reason, many cities in China have organized more and more exhibitions over the past years. However, since the cost of organizing exhibitions is very high, it may not benefit a society without being well-planned beforehand.
