this paper presents a detailed introduction to TWE (Test of written English). On the basis of a detailed analysis, this paper is trying to reveal to us the English writing requirements by the western societies and the profound impact TWE has on our English education and teaching. Accordingly there are some advices on the measures to be taken in our study under the guideline of the English teaching.
