英语颜色词的汉译已引起人们的广泛兴趣,人们对其中的文化引申含义或象征用法很重视,然而,相比之下汉语颜色词的英译却关注较少。本文就汉语颜色词的英译进行了研究。颜色词的英译主要有三种方法:直译法;文化对等译法;功能对等译法。

Less attention has been given to the t ranslation of Chinese color words in to English.The paper at-tempts to make s uch a research.In the paper,three methods have been proposed about the transla tion of the Chinese color words into English.The literal translation method can be a pplied to the translation of the basic meanings of the color words.This m ethod is also accepted when the color wo rd has common cultural connotation in b oth Chinese and English.Cultura l correspondence method can be used when there are expressions in English culture in correspondence with the Chinese color word s.Functional correspondence method can be used when we translate those color w ords with str ong cultural or symbolic meanings.
