20世纪初中国文学史上长篇连载小说兴盛的原因无疑是复杂的 ,近现代资本主义工商业的兴起、印刷技术的传入是连载小说发展的前提条件 ,而连载小说自身的特殊形式刺激读者的主动接受是促使它繁荣的不可忽视的因素。其一 ,都市新型市民的形成与读书市场的需求 ,经济商业性的刺激使作家、报刊编辑、出版商、读者四个方面形成一个特殊的“场”,从而促使连载小说这一形式迅速繁荣兴盛起来。其二 ,连载小说自身的适宜趋从性 ,使它天然地适宜于读者和读书消费市场的需要 ,随读者的变化而变化 ;其三 ,连载的特殊形式暗合了读者的接受心理 ,中断、分节作为连载小说的一种叙事策略 ,导致了它的内容和结构的不确定性和不完整性 ,从而使文本自身形成一种召唤性结构 ,它的中断和连贯所产生的特殊阅读能力 ,刺激和吸引读者的阅读欲望和兴趣。

Early in the 20th century,the causes of the prosperity of Chinese long serialized novel in literature history is undoubtedly complicated.The rise of the modern capitalism?the import of the art of printing is the prerequisite of serialized novels developing,but its special form stimulates initiative accepting of readership.It is a factor not to be ignored for the prosperity of serialized novels.and can be exposured through the following three aspects:Firstly,that serialized novel is booming rapidly results in the formation of urban inhabitants and a great need for a good reading market,as well as the formation of a special circle which is made up of writers,editors,publishers and readers under a strong incentive commercial economy;Secondly,serialized novel itself is favorable,which is always changable consumer market;Thirdly,the unique style of the serialized novel is perfectly suited to readers psychology.Discontinued narrative strategy,uncertain and incomplete content and structure make suspension,successfully attract readers attention.
