With its naturalistic characteristics, The Grapes of Wrath well illustrates John Steinbeck's significant contribution-the conversion of “I' into “we'-to the naturalistic tragic novels of the 1930s. Compared with Frank Norris' The Octopus, The Grape of Wrath s has a style of its own.
